It seems like just yesterday I was sitting the library finishing up homework and counting the hours until Spring Break. In the blink of an eye, we are back to the grind, trying to hang on until May.

I had a fun week in Atlanta and got a chance to look at the Emory campus, including the building that houses the graduate program I got accepted to. I am still waiting to hear from the other two schools but I am getting excited about what is to come after graduation.

Speaking of graduation, the University graduation ceremony is exactly two months from today. If you are a senior looking for info on graduation, your mom has been hounding you for the dates and times, or you want to support your fellow students by attending, here is the link to all the info: http://www.duq.edu/graduation/

Yesterday I met with my academic advisor to discuss the classes I have left to take next semester. I had a good idea of the few remaining courses, but i wanted to be sure! I have heard of way too many seniors that miscalculated their remaining courses and ended up stuck in school another semester to take one more class. After all the work I have done in the past few years, I was not going to let that happen to me!

My advisor and I figured out the four classes I must take, and the three credits of an elective I can choose. We discussed my job and plans for my future. Because we agreed on the classes I am going to schedule for, my advisor told me I could schedule on DORI next month if I wanted to fill out the form for graduation right then. I agreed, letting me off the hook for trying fit another meeting with my advisor into my schedule.

She handed me the form for graduation, which was pretty simple: name as you with to see it on your diploma, degree, major, minor, permanent address. NAME as you with to see if on your DIPLOMA?! Holy crap. I got kind of nervous at that point. “Am I really ready to be done?” I thought. I even said out loud, “Wow, this is pretty exciting.” My advisor was probably thinking, “Ya, right. People graduate every semester. Big deal.” But for me, it was a big deal. I’ve been taking classes every fall, spring and summer since freshman year and I am finally seeing my hard work pay off.

I just hope, in all the excitement, I spelled my name right on the form! I’ll find out in May when I get my diploma.
